Slovenia

On June 8th, 2022, Slovenia's Constitutional Court ruled that the country's ban on marriage for same-sex couples is unconstitutional – while also affirming the right of same-sex couples to adopt. On October 18th, 2022, the Slovenian Parliament voted 48-29-1 to implement the Court's ruling and extend marriage and adoption rights to same-sex couples. Slovenia's victory marks the first post-Communist country to end marriage discrimination.
